Lina Sturges

Lina Sturges has worked in the field of special education for forty years. She has taught as a Middle School English/Language Arts classroom teacher with Montgomery County Public Schools for the past fifteen years. Prior to working for MCPS, Lina had a twenty-five-year career at the Ivymount School in Rockville, Maryland. Lina taught a wide variety of disabilities in the Lower, Middle, and High School programs. She also served as the Middle School Director for six years, and Lower School Director for one year (in addition to her Middle School Director responsibilities) during her tenure at Ivymount.

Lina began her tenure with MCPS in 2007. She co-taught sixth, seventh, & eighth grade English-in both co-teaching and self-contained models as well as a co-taught sixth grade reading class. She has expertise in teaching seventh and eighth grade Resource classes with a focus on providing academic support for developing and improving skills in the areas of organization, social skills, study skills, time management, reading comprehension and written language.

Lina holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech/Language and Hearing Science from the University of Maryland, a Master of Arts degree in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University, and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
