Alexis "Lexi" Franks

Alexis Franks is a dedicated advocate and consultant in early childhood special education. She previously served as a special education teacher within Montgomery County Public Schools, where she developed extensive expertise in individualized education program (IEP) development, goal formulation, differentiated instructional strategies, and support for students with complex and multiple disabilities. Having taught in inclusive and self-contained settings, Alexis's breadth of experience allows her to provide unique insight for all students.

 

Alexis collaborates effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including related service providers and medical professionals, while fostering strong partnerships with families to support student success. Her professional focus centers on guiding families of young children with significant disabilities through the complexities of the special education system and promoting access to inclusive,
developmentally appropriate learning experiences. She prioritizes evidence-based, play-centered approaches to encourage student autonomy and coordinates comprehensive supports across home and educational settings to facilitate optimal developmental outcomes.

 

Alexis holds a Master of Education in Autism and Severe Disabilities from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, with Distinction, from the University of Delaware. She possesses certifications in Early Childhood and Special Education and is proficient in administering and interpreting a variety of standardized assessment tools.
