Abigail Locke

Abby Locke is a special education advocate and consultant as well as tutor who has worked with students and families with a variety of strengths and needs during her career at MCPS. A licensed and certified teacher in the state of Maryland, Abby worked for MCPS for 12 years, 9 of those as a special education teacher and 3 years as an Assistant School Administrator.  

 

A seasoned educator, Abby has firsthand knowledge of IEP implementation, goal writing, service delivery models, and behavior management. In addition, her role as Assistant School Administrator, allowed her to work closely with families to support their child at school and specifically through the special education process when needed. She has successfully led school and family teams through all aspects of the special education process from referral to IEP implementation. Abby is committed to ensuring that all students make progress both academically and socially.  Her belief is that by working together, the student, school staff, and family can ensure any child can reach their full potential.

 

Abby obtained her Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary's College of Maryland in Human Studies and her Master of Education in Special Education (Birth - 21 year old) from the University of Maryland: College Park. In addition to her higher education, Abby is trained in Orton Gillingham and Really Great Reading.
